The authorities of Crimea and Sevastopol decided not to hold a military parade on May 9 this year for security reasons. In addition, the processions of the "Immortal Regiment" and festive demonstrations for May 1 were canceled. This was announced by the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksenov.

"The authorities of the Republic of Crimea and the hero city of Sevastopol made a joint decision not to hold festive demonstrations on May 1, processions of the "Immortal Regiment" and a military parade on May 9. This decision is due to security reasons", - Aksenov said on his Telegram channel.

He promised not to ignore veterans, despite the cancellation of festive events. The head of Crimea assured that officials will visit and congratulate veterans on Victory Day.

Later, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhaev, denied the statement of the head of the Crimea about the cancellation of the military parade in Sevastopol on May 9. He clarified that a decision on this issue has not yet been made.

"The day before, we held a joint operation with the Republic of Crimea with all law enforcement agencies and the Black Sea Fleet. We discussed the festive events for the Victory Day. The decision to cancel the military parade on May 9 in Sevastopol has not been made at the moment", - Razvozzhaev said in a message on his Telegram channel.

He added that the decision to hold a military parade in the city is the prerogative of the military department, which is currently being consulted.

Earlier, the authorities of the Kursk and Belgorod regions announced the cancellation of the Victory Day parade on May 9.
