The Federation Council took care of the invasion of Mongolian marmots infected with the plague

At the plenary session of the Federation Council, during the discussion of the report on the US biological laboratories in Ukraine, Senator Lyudmila Narusova expressed her concern about the fact that many plague-infected marmots are entering the Republic of Tyva from Mongolia.

She raised the issue of the availability of laboratories for the rapid detection of such infections. In response, Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova said that during the coronavirus pandemic, sequencing centers were developed, which are now expanding the scope of activities to other infections.

Rospotrebnadzor, Rosselkhoznadzor and veterinary services have opportunities to detect infections that circulate in Russia and may be imported from other states. The work on expanding the capabilities of laboratories continues and is recognized as important.
