The reason was the temporary ban of the chatbot in Italy, where ChatGPT was deemed unable to store confidential user data.

OpenAI has launched a reward program for error detection. IT specialists, hackers and other computer enthusiasts are encouraged to study the functionality of ChatGPT and, if vulnerabilities are discovered, report them to developers. Depending on the severity of the errors that will be discovered, those who reported are promised a reward of $ 200 to $ 20,000, according to Business Insider.

The news appeared after the information about the ban of ChatGPT in Italy – the reason was a data leak in OpenAI, which allowed users to see the headlines or topics of other people's chats.

The Italian Data Protection Authority announced that the ChatGPT ban is in effect "until ChatGPT respects privacy." The agency added that OpenAI must report to it within 20 days on the measures taken to ensure the confidentiality of user data, or pay a fine of up to $ 22 million. In response, OpenAI stated that 1.2% of ChatGPT Plus users, as the investigation showed, did have the opportunity to disclose personal data to other users, but in reality these figures are much lower.

In a statement from OpenAI regarding the announced bug hunt , it says: "Your experience and vigilance will have a direct impact on ensuring the security of our systems and users. Once a month, we will evaluate all submitted materials based on a variety of factors and award a bonus through the Bugcrowd platform to the researcher with the most impressive results".
