«In order not to suffer pain»: Zelensky called for legalizing medical marijuana

«All the world's best practices, all the most effective policies, all solutions, no matter how complex or unusual they may seem to us, should be applied in Ukraine so that all our citizens — Ukrainians and Ukrainians — do not have to endure pain, stress and trauma due to the war. In particular, we must finally honestly legalize cannabis—based medicines for everyone who requires it», — Zelensky said at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada (quoted by RIA Novosti).

He stressed that for this it is necessary to conduct scientific research, and the production of cannabis for medicines should be carried out on the territory of the republic.

Zelensky announced the idea of legalizing marijuana for medical purposes during the election campaign. In June 2021, the deputies of the Rada failed to vote on the bill, but in June 2022, the government of Ukraine approved the use of cannabis for medical and scientific purposes.
