France is gripped by riots after the murder of a black teenager (VIDEO)

Protests against police actions resumed in French cities on Wednesday after a police officer shot a 17-year-old teenager during a traffic check. This was reported by the BFMTV channel.

On Wednesday evening, small groups of people took to the streets of several French cities. On social networks, users posted footage of thick black smoke over Toulouse, which arose due to a fire set by protesters. About 50 people in the city started attacking the police, throwing stones at them. The police responded with tear gas. It is noted that some protesters hid their faces with hoods, and some were armed with rebar.

In Lille, about a hundred people gathered to protest in front of the prefecture of the city. The protesters set fires, creating piles of garbage containers. A police source told the TV channel that the protesters are armed with stones and plan to hold a rally «against police brutality.» Videos of the first clashes between protesters and police appeared on social networks, while tear gas was used.

The prefecture of Paris also reported on separate hotbeds of unrest, which at the moment remain «local». It is noted that law enforcement agencies are focused on the situation in Nanterre and the Department of Hauts-de-France. There were also riots in the commune of Viri-Chation in the Essonne department, during which a bus was set on fire.

Yesterday, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said that the authorities will attract two thousand police officers to prevent riots. On Tuesday morning, the police in Nanterre, a suburb of Paris, shot a 17-year-old teenager during a traffic check. He refused to comply with the demands of law enforcement officers.

According to the head of the French Interior Ministry Gerald Darmanen, more than three hundred people were detained during the riots on June 28. 24 police officers were slightly injured. The protesters burned almost four dozen cars.

Spontaneous protests were held in Nanterre and many suburbs of Paris. In Manta, protesters set fire to the city administration building. Social media users posted videos of arson attacks and clashes with police officers in Marseille, Bordeaux, Roubaix in northern France and Colmar in the east of the country.
