Oscar-nominated directors Arbugayevs were invited to the US Film Academy

Russian directors Maxim (pictured) and Yevgenia Arbugaevs were invited to become members of the American Film Academy. This is reported in the official statement of the academy, published on June 28.

Arbugayev's invitation was offered by the documentary department for their work on the film «Exit». Anna Drubich, the creator of the music for the film «Varvara», also received an invitation.

This year, the American Film Academy has invited 398 artists and filmmakers. The selection of participants is based on professional qualifications.

The Film Academy's CEO Bill Kramer and its president Janet Young said in a statement: «We are pleased to welcome these professionals. They represent outstanding talents from all over the world, have a significant impact on the art and film industry, and enjoy popularity among audiences around the world».

The film «Exit», created by Maxim and Yevgenia Arbugaevs, was also nominated for an Oscar in 2022. The article «Izvestia» revealed details about the significance of this film at the Oscar ceremony and what Maxim Arbugaev is known for.
