The HRC proposed to start the fight against the «ethnic ghetto» in Russia

This is the name given to enclaves that have arisen on the territory of the country, inhabited mainly by migrants from certain countries.

According to Kommersant, with reference to the statement of the representative of the HRC Kirill Kabanov, to counteract violations of the law spreading inside the «ethnic ghettos», the security forces offer their own set of measures — such as tightening migration legislation and compliance with the rules of registration by analogy with the USSR era, the elimination of the so-called «rubber apartments», as well as the introduction of quotas for working patents.

Experts believe that the problem of «ethnic enclaves» in Russia, which is being brought up for wide public discussion, is greatly exaggerated. Researchers note that there are few places of compact residence of migrants in Russia, they do not pose a serious threat. At the same time, in the conditions of depopulation, the Russian Federation cannot do without attracting foreign labor.
