The attack on the Crimean Bridge showed that modern bridges have no weaknesses, experts say. Today's damage looks even less significant than those that were inflicted in October 2022. At the same time, the charge used to detonate could be 1000 kg of explosives.

Yuri Novak, Deputy Director General for Scientific Work of TSNIITS JSC, told NI about why the road part of the Crimean Bridge has become the targets of APU attacks for the second time, while the railway bridge can resist:

— What kind of attack can the Crimean Bridge withstand?

What kind of power is needed to detonate — this is secret data, this is for Shoigu.
— What is the weak point of bridges?
— Our modern bridges have no weak points, but everything depends on the power of the charge. The bridge is not designed to be experimented on. But even as a result of both the last explosion and this one, very limited damage is inflicted. This is the merit of our norms, our designers and builders.
— Why does the railway part withstand and the automobile part does not?
— The railway load is much higher in itself. Twice as heavy. Therefore, everything is much stronger there. It's harder to blow up a railway bridge, you need to have more explosives for this.
— How long will it take to recover?
— It's not clear yet. We need to look at the damage. Employees are working. But according to the photos, the destruction is small. Last time, two spans were mostly destroyed, today — half of one span.
