Kremlin: Russia stops grain deal

This is reported by TASS with reference to the statement of the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

According to RIA Novosti, a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry with detailed explanations of the Russian position on the grain deal will be published in the near future. Moscow has already notified Ankara, Kiev, as well as the UN secretariat about this.

The termination of the deal coincided with the terrorist attack on The Crimean Bridge, which Russia suspects Ukraine of committing.

Earlier it was reported that on July 16 from The last vessel left Odessa for Istanbul within the framework of the current grain deal. We are talking about the flight of the Turkish grain carrier Samsun.

The validity period of the previous transaction ended on Monday, July 17. Moscow has not agreed to extend the agreement.

The Russian side has repeatedly warned about the possible termination of the grain deal due to non-fulfillment of agreements by other participants of the initiative.

If the deal does not resume, Ukraine will lose up to $500 million a month.

Recall that in the summer of 2022, Russia signed a grain deal with Kiev and Ankara with the participation of the UN. According to the Russian authorities, this was done «not for Ukraine, but for the countries of Africa and Latin America that lack grain.»

Russia has guaranteed the safe passage of ships with Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea. However, Russia's retaliatory demands related to the lifting of restrictions on agricultural products were not met. After the conclusion, the grain deal was extended several times in the interests of friendly countries. However, now Russia has abandoned the previous plan.
