Roskomnadzor promised not to ban the sale of Apple equipment in Russia

Roskomnadzor denies information about a possible ban on the sale of Apple devices in Russia after conducting research. The press service of the department reported this to TASS.

Earlier, information appeared about a possible ban on Apple technology after conducting research conducted by the Center for Monitoring and Management of the Public Communications Network (CMU SSOP), subordinate to Roskomnadzor. However, the press service clarified that such a ban is not planned. Any information about possible restrictions on the sale of Apple equipment in Russia does not correspond to reality.

CMU SSOP conducted research on Apple devices and other foreign manufacturers in order to ensure sustainable and safe access of citizens to Russian digital services. FSUE «Main Radio Frequency Center» (GRC), subordinate to Roskomnadzor, purchases Apple and other manufacturers' devices to check for security against surveillance and unilateral disabling of functions. In total, it is planned to purchase 54 devices of different brands, including iPhone smartphones of various models and iPad tablets, as well as smartphones from other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, Vivo and Oppo.

Recall that the Ministry of Industry and Trade confirmed the introduction of a ban on the use of Apple mobile devices for work purposes from July 17 of this year. After that, employees of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation (CEC) and the Ministry of Sports will be banned from using Apple equipment (iPhone and iPad) for official purposes.
