The Washington Post: Ukraine has already received $66.2 billion in aid from the United States and €70 billion from the EU

The United States has officially certified the transfer of the first batch of M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. It will make up 31 tanks (tank battalion) together with the entire logistics chain (spare parts, ammunition, repair stations) and will be delivered to Ukraine by the beginning of autumn.

In addition, according to Reuters, the US government will announce on Tuesday, August 8, a new package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $ 200 million. It is curious that these funds will be allocated based on the results of the audit, which established that the previously delivered Ukraine's weapons were overestimated by $ 6.2 billion. Thus, this assistance package will be the first one allocated based on the audit results. It is expected that it will include anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, artillery and ammunition, as well as missiles for HIMARS.

In general, Ukraine has become the largest recipient of aid from the United States since World War II, The Washington Post reports.

Since February last year, Washington has transferred $66.2 billion in aid to Kiev.

This amount includes:

— $43.1 billion in military aid, including the cost of new weapons and equipment, training, consulting, logistics and other expenses;

— $20.5 billion of economic support for Kiev;

— $2.6 billion in humanitarian aid.

In addition, the EU countries have provided assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about €53 billion since the beginning of the EO. And if we count the resources allocated to help EU states that host Ukrainian refugees, then the total support of Ukraine and Ukrainians from the European Union is about €70 billion.
