Moscow police detained residents of the Gagarinsky district, who were outraged by the night work on the construction of a new metro line.

Construction

The conflict related to the plans of the city authorities to lay a new metro line and open the Akademicheskaya station of the Troitskaya line at the intersection of Profsoyuznaya and Dmitriy Ulyanov streets with a transfer to the station of the same name on the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya metro line continued.

Muscovite Alexander Kiyatkin writes about what happened in recent days, or rather, the night:

“Imagine that at 2 o'clock in the morning, 40 pieces of equipment that have come from nowhere begin to rumble under your windows. Imagine 200 workers in the middle of the night starting to put up concrete fences and destroy trees on a boulevard.

Imagine that you go out to inquire - what is going on in general and whether people have documents for carrying out work - but instead of documents appear strong young people who use physical force on you, pushing you off the boulevard. Imagine that you turn to the police for help, and the police grab you (!), Keep you connected for 24 hours, do not allow lawyers (!!) and draw up protocols under the article on illegal organization of a mass event (!!!) - very insidious and a very tough article.

Seven of my neighbors found themselves in just such a situation; one of them had a little son left at home. They just wanted to sleep peacefully at night, they wanted the larches under their windows not to be cut down and the boulevard not to be turned into a pit. They also wanted to comply with the law. But the laws are not respected in Moscow when it comes to the construction of the metro: projects are approved without public hearings and do not undergo an independent examination, there are no permits, physical force is used against local residents, fake protocols are drawn up and lawyers are not allowed to people. “It’s very bad when the government is not under the control of society,” we are told. We say - "Yeah, that's right" - and go about our business. But we really understand how true this is only when uncontrolled power comes literally to your window. I really hope that this situation will not be silenced..."

According to Moskovskaya Gazeta, on the morning of December 14, police detained activists of the tree protection movement on the boulevard near Dmitry Ulyanov Street. People protested against the felling of trees and the performance of these works at night, when about 200 workers, about 40 pieces of equipment, drove up to house No. 4 on Vavilov Street. Later, at the police station, one of the strikers became ill, an ambulance was called for him. Now the lawyers of the detainees are trying to challenge the actions of the police and recognize them as illegal, but they are not allowed into the police department.

The head of the Gagarinsky municipal district, Yelena Rusakova, in her blog reacted sharply to the detention of people and the actions of workers who were trying to destroy trees, calling them "illegal militants": decision-makers and decision makers. And people have already understood that it is time to deal closely with these surnames, first names and patronymics".

Meanwhile, the trees and shrubs of rare species planted on the boulevard by employees of the Academy of Sciences are more than half a century old. For several months, residents of the district have been organizing round-the-clock vigils on the territory of the boulevard. The activists are confident that the construction of the metro line is illegal, since it is not included in the current General Plan of Moscow.

Most likely, the detainees will be drawn up protocols on an administrative offense "for disobeying a lawful order of police officers".

Rusakova said that together with the residents, the district will seek to stop construction, since the station under construction duplicates the existing ones and threatens houses of unique architecture: “The project is categorically contrary to the law and experts called it a “city planning crime”. Tracing is extremely harmful for the transport system of the city, it is inappropriate to negotiate (with the authorities - editor's note)".
