Over the past day, nine people have become victims of coronavirus infection in Moscow. This is five to six times less than it was at the peak, which indicates a decrease in incidence despite a long period after most restrictions were lifted.

At the same time, people still continue to get sick and die, the threats of a pandemic remain.

In total, according to the operational headquarters, 4,398 people have died in the capital since the beginning of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, - the website of the radio station "Echo of Moscow" notes . Moscow ranks first among Russian regions in terms of the total number of victims of COVID-19. In second place is St. Petersburg - there are about two thousand deaths, followed by the Moscow region - more than a thousand deaths.

At the same time, at the beginning of the disease, Moscow accounted for about two-thirds of the cases of coronavirus infection detected in Russia every day, but now only about a tenth, which indicates a shift in the main foci of infection to Russian regions.

In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 237 thousand people have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in Moscow, 174 thousand people have recovered. But there are also alarming moments - in particular, 648 new cases were revealed in the city over the past day, and only 306 people recovered, - RBC reports. In Moscow, mass events are still banned and a mask-and-glove regime is in effect in public transport, shops and other public places, although in practice it is no longer perfectly observed.

Moscow authorities promise not to introduce new quarantine restrictions and are awaiting the speedy registration of the coronavirus vaccine in order to start vaccinating city residents. Mayor of the capital Sergei Sobyanin promised that it would be free. Earlier, the mayor of Moscow said that according to his data, even 60% of citizens have developed immunity to coronavirus, although the Ministry of Health speaks of only 24%.
