Monument war: in Poland they want to establish an anti-Russian monument

The Polish sculptor created a monument glorifying the conquerors of territories that belong to Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania.

The scandal over the disappearance of memorial tablets in Tver by the Poles repressed in the Stalin Soviet Union has not yet subsided, as a new one has already flared up, now provoked by the Polish side.

The next propaganda attack by the forces of monumental art was called by Russian sculptors from the Lite Art Association, a work by their Polish colleague Tomek Radzievich from Gdansk. He is completing work on a monument dedicated to the centennial of the Battle of Komarov in the "Soviet-Bolshevik War" - that is what Poland calls the war for the seizure of the lands of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania, which took place in 1919-1921.

In those years, the Polish authorities dreamed of restoring the borders of the Commonwealth of 1772, with the establishment of control over Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania and the geopolitical dominance in Eastern Europe.

The sculptural association “Lit Art” considers the installation of this monument unacceptable, since it sows enmity between our peoples. Sculptors claim that the monument looks deliberately aggressive.

The monumental composition depicts three Polish cavalrymen, the height of the sculptures is 5 m. The first horseman rushes with a lance, and in the original version he stabbed with a lance the fallen Red Army man. At the same time, his expression was atrocious, as if he was enjoying the murder on the battlefield. The second rider swung his sword and will strike right now. The third is depicted with a banner.

The author of the monument does not depict the bodies of the victims, but they are still clearly read in this scene. These invisible victims: Russians, Ukrainians, Belarusians from the ranks of the First Mounted Army of Budyonny? Or maybe it's the Bolsheviks without a nationality, who, after 25 years, freed the prisoners of Auschwitz and the whole territory of Poland from the Nazis? I would like to recall that during the liberation of Poland, more than 450 thousand Soviet soldiers died. So what does the author want to say with this composition?

The association of sculptors "Lit Art" believes that patriotic monuments should not offend people's feelings. Sculptures should not be aggressive. Patriotic monuments should create an atmosphere of friendship and tolerance, set up for reconciliation and resolution of disputes.

A monument is always a symbol. We ask ourselves the following questions: For what purpose did the “political symbol” of Poland need an “aggressive symbol”, because it is obvious that the monument is sculpted with state funds and state land is allocated for it. Is this not a hint of new plans to establish borders within 1772?

The members of the sculptural association “Lit Art” are categorically against the installation of such a monument and we ask that other cultural figures join us. We demand to change the composition, to eliminate the aggressive postures of the riders. And also to establish commemorative tablets with the names of all those who died in the Battle of Komarov, that is, about 500 from Poland and 4000 from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania.
