Viktor Balashov worked as an announcer for more than half a century, the famous phrase: "Moscow is speking, all the radio stations of the Soviet Union are working" he said thousands of times, being the first to report on one of the greatest triumphs of Russian history - the flight into space of the first man, Gagarin.

The death of the legendary announcer and TV presenter, People's Artist of Russia Viktor Balashov is reported by vesti.ru. In 2005, Viktor Balashov headed the electoral list of the Liberal Democratic Party in the elections of deputies to the Belgorod Regional Duma. After the announcement of the results, he refused the deputy mandate.
