Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov has been nominated for a Grammy award in the category Best Solo Instrumental Work of Classical Music. He can receive an award for the project “Destination: Rachmaninov. Arrival". The list of nominees is published on the official website of the award.

According to the pianist, associate professor of the Moscow Conservatory. Tchaikovsky Mikhail Lidsky, Grammy is far from the most important award for a classical music performer. At the same time, in an interview with radio Sputnik, he said that Trifonov is only partially a Russian pianist, because he received higher education in the United States and is now working there. Lidsky also called Trifonov "the hyped star of the American Spill".

“The Grammy itself is large and has an impact on the respective markets. As for music, everyone should judge for himself. I would think that this is far from the most important award for a classical musician”, - Lidsky said.

German pianist of Russian origin Igor Levit, American performer of Russian origin Kirill Gershtein and Italian Avgustin Gadelich are also presented in the same nomination with Trifonov.

At the same time, Trifonov has already received a Grammy in 2018 in the category "Best Classical Instrumental Solo Performance". At that time he was 27 years old.

The 63rd Grammy Awards will take place on January 31, 2021.
