The tourist cashback program in 2022 will be valid only during the low season, it will not apply to the period from June to September and the New Year holidays.

As the head of Rostourism Zarina Doguzova told reporters, in the new year the cashback program will tentatively operate from January 15 to the end of April, as well as from October 1 to mid-December.

“These are approximate travel windows. The period from May to September, as a high tourist season, is not planned to be stimulated under the cashback program", - Doguzova TASS quoted the statement.

According to Kommersant, Rosturizm plans to open a cashback sales window for the winter season by the end of 2021.

It will be possible to receive a partial (up to 20% of the costs) reimbursement from the state for trips around the country for trips planned for dates after January 15th.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian authorities, in order to support the tourism industry in the country, especially affected by the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, decided to extend the cashback program for another two weeks. Initially, it was expected that the program would end on August 31, but the Russians were unable to select all the funding allocated by the government for this program in the amount of 6.7 billion rubles. Seeing that 400 million were left unused, the authorities extended the program until September 15th.

The cashback program was one of the government's stabilization measures proposed to support the "sagging" hospitality economy, which survived a wave of bankruptcies amid lockdowns during the pandemic and the implementation of strict restrictive measures.

The program was launched in 2020. During her work, residents of the country bought tours around the country for 6.5 billion rubles. Thanks to the program, they managed to return 1.2 billion rubles.

This year, the program started on June 16, but the interest in it did not meet the expectations of officials, despite the fact that parents were promised to return up to 50% of the cost of vouchers to children's camps. Many Russians explained their reluctance to buy tours around the country by the lack of money and the low quality of domestic service.
