Manufacturers of brands of mayonnaise and sauces, popular in Russia, have warned retail chains about the impending rise in prices for their products by an average of 10%. The reason was the growing inflation.

The cost of mayonnaise and sauces produced in Russia will grow by 5-12% in the near future. As reported by the enterprises "Efko" (brand "Sloboda"), the Nizhny Novgorod fat and oil plant (NMZhK; brands "Ryaba", "Sdobri") and the company "Skit" in circulation sent to retail chains, the average price rise will be 10%.

“The reason for the increase is the rise in prices from the end of 2020 to March for sunflower oil by 59%, tropical oils and their fractions - by 20–44%. The cost of packaging, fuels and lubricants and logistics has also increased”, - Kommersant reports.

Considering the fact that appeals to retail chains came not from one supplier, but from several market leaders at once, retail representatives will obviously have to accept their terms. In this case, the final cost of inflationary changes will be borne by buyers.

It became known yesterday that world food prices, which have been growing for 10 months in a row, have broken another record set in 2014. According to a report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), in March, the FAO price index, which indicates fluctuations in the prices of basic foodstuffs, rose to 118.5 points, which is 2.1% higher than in February. Vegetable oil has risen in price most of all. The price index for it rose by 8% over the month, breaking the June 2011 record. In addition to butter, prices for dairy and meat products increased significantly, fluctuations in the index for them amounted to 3.9 and 2.3%, respectively.
