Before the general transition to smart electricity meters, scheduled for 2022, Russians will not be obliged to pay for the purchase and installation of metering devices. About this decision of the Ministry of Energy that was made during the COVID-19 pandemic, writes "RG".
From individuals, expenses are transferred to legal - energy and network companies. Electricity providers were given the right to decide whether to install “smart” meters immediately, which transmit readings remotely, or temporarily confine themselves to devices of the previous generation.
From now on, consumers will also not need to deal with the maintenance and verification of meters.
The authorities expect that the residents will be able to save 5-20 thousand rubles on the replacement of power generating units.
