Question of the day: where did the two billion allocated for the Russian analogue of Wikipedia get to?

The Russian government abandoned the idea of creating a “Russian Wikipedia”, having spent almost two billion rubles on this project.

As you know, in 2019, the Russian government allocated a separate line in the budget for a subsidy for the work to create a domestic analogue of Wikipedia, since the generally accepted and popular information resource did not suit Russian ideologists. The size of the subsidy until 2021 amounted to one billion 989 million 304 thousand rubles.

On May 11, the government abandoned this idea and dissolved the working group. I wonder how many millions (thousands, tens) of rubles have survived?

Meanwhile, even at the first reports of the intention to create such a resource, analysts wrote that the embodiment of this idea has no chance. That is, it was clear why all this was up to.

"This has never happened, and here it happened again!", - the late Chernomyrdin would exclaim.

Clarification of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications regarding reports that appeared in the media about the closure of the project of a national scientific and educational interactive encyclopedic portal:

An interdepartmental working group on issues related to the creation, on the basis of the electronic version of the Big Russian Encyclopedia and other Russian scientific encyclopedias, of a national scientific and educational interactive encyclopedic portal, was created by the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation in late August 2016. The interdepartmental working group, which brought together under the chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Prikhodko, leading experts, representatives of science, encyclopedics, the IT industry, and the heads of several federal departments, did a great job: developed and agreed on a regulation on the portal with the definition of the most important activities, a plan work on creating a portal, developed recommendations on the phasing of this large-scale project, its staffing and financial support . In 2019, the Interdepartmental Working Group actually completed its activities with the release of the order of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 29, 2019, which set the task for the practical implementation of the project, the ANO "National Russian Educational Center" Big Russian Encyclopedia "was established. As for the Order of the Government of the Russian Federation of May 11, 2020 No. 1241-r , to which the media refer today, with this act the government legally completed the activities of this Interdepartmental Working Group. Rospechat once again draws the attention of the media that a nationwide encyclopedic interactive portal is being created without any connection with Wikipedia. The portal itself, which has already received the name “Knowledge”, will be launched, as planned, in 2022.
