Own percent from the pandemic: how Sberbank "supported" its customers and small businesses

Sberbank canceled a free limit on transfers of funds within the bank through its ATMs, the official website of the credit institution reports. Now each transfer made in this way will be a subject to a commission of 1%, but not more than 1 thousand rubles from the operation.

Earlier the percent was introduced for the other transmissions.

Thus, only the card-to-card transfers remained in the personal account with a limit of not more than 50 thousand rubles per month.

In fact, Sber’s fiscal innovations, of course, will not be noticed by grandmothers who give their grandkids money “for the ice cream” from their pensions. But private business and people who are accustomed to paying for services and goods "from private owners" now face extra spending.

Let's say, you, for example, are building a house or doing repairs in an apartment. If only yesterday you could transfer money to the workers and craftsmen without any commissions, today you cannot do it without the touching "participation" of the main Russian bank. So if you've spent 300 thousand rubles over a month - please give three thousand rubles to Sberbank. But if your pockets became empty on a million, then Sber will take 10 thousand rubles!

But if for you the additional costs end with the end of construction, then for entrepreneurs who are used to paying employees and counterparties from card to card, Sberovsky interest will fall into regular costs. During these difficult covid-pandemic times a WHOLE percent has been eaten out of their business.

And how many people are forced to share with Sber?

Even according to our curve statistics, the salaries in envelopes - in total or partly - receive from 13 to 25 million people. And this is not counting the millions of the self-employed who are also involved in remittances of over 50 thousand rubles a month.

And now every entrepreneur decides: to add, when calculating the salay for an employee who are receiving, for example, 60 thousand a month, 600 rubles from his own pocket, or better to subtract this sum from the employee's earnings. The latter is not difficult to do, considering the automatic nature of the commission.

Needless to say that for a family of four living on 60 thousand a month, 600 rubles is not the extra money at all?

The bank says that transfers through ATMs account take only 1% of all operations, and earlier even stated that most customers do not transfer more than 50 thousand per month from one card to another.

However, independent economic expert Semyon Novoprudsky believes that even such a small percentage will create for Sberbank a new way to earn money.

“It is absolutely clear that Sberbank is probably the finest commission master in the Russian banking market. Sberbank can literally make money on everything. We can confidently say that the effect is calculated there. Maybe the amount is insignificant for the scale of Sberbank's business and the scale of profit, which every year gives much more than half the profits of the entire banking system, but it is clear that this decision is an attempt to compensate for the abolition of bank roaming. Sberbank makes this commission clearly for compensation purposes, "said the expert in an interview with Radio Sputnik.

And all right, the financial position of the main bank of the country would have faltered, like trees during the last Moscow hurricane. Not! There is a lot of money in Sberbank! On June 11, for example, investments in the development and purchase of a controlling stake in 2GIS, one of the most expensive Runet companies, according to Forbes , were announced . The company's valuation for the transaction amounted to 14.3 billion rubles.

Against this backdrop the sufferings and losses of some small private traders with their ridiculous salaries in envelopes is utter nonsense.

Although Sber’s website contains a touching to tears appeal of German Gref to the population suffering from coronavirus and economic collapse.

German Gref noted that "in pursuance of the decisions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Sberbank began to develop additional measures to support its customers, who were in a difficult life situation due to the spread of coronavirus infection".

One must assume the introduction of a percentage for transferring money in the midst of a pandemic - is this the same additional support measure? Or does this mean that the convertsation about the support is one thing, and business - is another?
