The prison department plans to replenish the country's budget by attracting convicts to paid work for 16 billion rubles annually.

Good news for the Russians is reported by TASS. It turns out that the Russian budget will receive about 16 billion rubles annually from attracting convicts to paid work. This follows from the explanatory note to the draft federal budget for 2022-2024, which is at the disposal of TASS.

In mid-June, the head of the department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia (FPS) for organizing the execution of punishments not related to isolation from society, Yelena Korobkova, said in an interview with TASS that by the end of this year the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia plans to create up to 15 thousand places for those convicted of forced labor. According to her, only last year 12 thousand people were serving a new sentence in the form of forced labor, who paid 80 million rubles to the state (from 5% to 20% of the salary, depending on the court verdict).

At the same time, income from attracting convicts to paid work is estimated at 15.2 billion rubles in 2021 and projected at 15.8 billion rubles in 2022, 15.9 billion rubles in 2023 and 16.2 billion rubles in 2024. says the document.

Commenting on this news, lawyer Alexey Fedyarov invites his readers to make the most elementary calculations, as a result of which absolutely amazing things will become clear:

“We pause. 15 thousand jobs in 2021. According to the plan, this is 15.2 billion to the budget. One job should bring an average of 1,013,333.33 rubles to the budget.

Not bad. Due to what, I wonder?

The same Elena Korobkova answers. According to her, only last year 12 thousand people were serving a new sentence in the form of forced labor, who paid 80 million rubles to the state (from 5% to 20% of the salary, depending on the court verdict).

So.

Firstly, 12 thousand people and 80 million rubles, that's 6 666, 66 rubles from one workplace.

6 thousand 666.66 rubles. Not 1 million 13 thousand 333.33 rubles, but, say, somewhat more modest. But let's put our doubts aside. These are little things.

Secondly, replenishment is planned through deductions from 5 to 20 percent of wages.

Okay, we will answer. Let's take as a starting point the largest amount of deductions - 20% (we operate exclusively with numbers and percentages given by the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia).

If 15.2 billion is 20%, then 100% is 76 billion.

Divide again by 15,000 convicts. According to the calculations of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the average income of a convict attracted to work under this program should be at least, I emphasize at least, 5,066,666.67 rubles per year.

Just over 5 million rubles a year. More than 400 thousand rubles a month. And this is at maximum retention.

And judging by the note, this is just the beginning.

The Federal Penitentiary Service says that these incomes will only grow.

So they will stand in line in prison, the Federal Penitentiary Service, what are you doing, this is a breakthrough, of course, but who will work in freedom?"

As one of Fedyarov's readers wittily remarked:

“A bowl of gourd will be worth the price of a bowl of turtle soup at the Metropole. That's the whole secret...
