Former Deputy Minister of Education and Vice President of Sberbank Marina Rakova, who was suspected of large-scale fraud, fled from investigators and was put on the federal wanted list.

According to the telegram channel Mash, the estimated damage to the state from Rakova's actions is estimated at 50-200 million rubles.

On September 29, Rakova was taken for interrogation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. She is suspected of large-scale fraud on the fact of embezzlement of budget funds during the implementation of the Education program. She faces up to 10 years in prison in this criminal case, initiated in August this year. The crimes of which she is suspected were committed in 2019, when she was deputy minister.

The reason for initiating a criminal case was a check that revealed inconsistencies in the performance of work under government contracts. According to the investigation, the deputy minister was interested in concluding a contract with a certain company - the Fund for New Forms of Education.

The fund, in turn, attracted a subcontractor for the execution of the state contract. The money was transferred under two contracts, but the work was not completed. The damage to the state budget is estimated at 50 million rubles. Investigators intend to check other contracts conducted by Rakova, the total value of which exceeds 150 million rubles.

After a search in her mansion on September 29, the official signed a pledge to appear before the investigator on September 30, but, in the best traditions of crime films, she disappeared without showing up for interrogation.

“The phone is off, no one knows where she was and where she could have disappeared”, - the message says.

The police believe that Rakova may be hiding in the Moscow region. According to preliminary data, she did not cross the Russian border.

On the eve of the security forces arrested three alleged accomplices of Rakova: Maxim Inkin, Yevgeny Zak (both from the top management of Sberbank) and ex-director of Shaninka Kristina Kryuchkova. All of them are also charged under article 159, part 4 (large-scale fraud).
