In the clearing fence of the Duet mine at a gold deposit near the village of Yugorenok, Ust-Maisky District of Yakutia, rock collapsed, resulting in the death of a drifter.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

"Information has been received that rock collapse occurred in the clearing fence of the Duet mine in the village of Yugorenok, Ust-Maisky district. It has been established that during the work on ore mining, rocky soil with a volume of 4 cubic meters collapsed”, - it was reported.

A paramilitary mine rescue platoon of the Neryunginsky branch of the Militarized mine rescue unit was sent to the place of the emergency. Experts have found that the rock collapse occurred during the extraction of ore. Rocky ground with a volume of four cubic meters collapsed. The body of the deceased tunneller was raised to the surface.

The work of the mine has not been suspended, the press service said.

According to MK-Yakutia, the Investigation Department of the RF IC for the region has begun an investigation into the death of an employee. Investigators will examine the scene of the incident, interview eyewitnesses and employees of the enterprise, and also study the technical documentation. Based on the results of the audit, a decision will be made in accordance with the law.
