The case of Khachaturian sisters accused of killing their father will be considered by the trial jury

Formation of the jury will begin on August 31. Earlier, the defendants' lawyer insisted that the case be considered as openly and with the participation of a jury. The court granted the request, but warned that it would not be possible to mitigate the punishment or re-qualify the case to a softer one in this case, writes TASS.

Let us recall that the girls were arrested two years ago on suspicion of the murder of their father. In December last year, the Investigative Committee completed its investigation. In July this year, the Prosecutor General's Office approved the indictment. The sisters are accused of murder, which they all committed together by prior conspiracy. The third person involved in the case was the younger sister. Her case is considered separately, since the examination carried out during the investigation showed that the girl was insane when the crime was completely committed. The defense side expects to be released from liability and sent to compulsory treatment. In addition, the lawyers insist that the murder was committed in self-defense. The father raped his daughters and exerted psychological pressure on them.

Now the court has extended the measure of restraint in the case for the older sisters and banned both defendants from the participating in the mass events. The return of the criminal case for additional investigation was refused.
