A fire broke out in the museum-estate of the composer N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov (an object of cultural heritage) in the village of Lyubensk, Plyussky district, Pskov region. The fire destroyed 1,082 exhibits.

As Svetlana Melnikova, general director of the museum, told Interfax, only 20% of the exhibits affected by the fire are subject to restoration. She called seven pieces of memorial furniture the biggest loss for the museum. They will have to be restored according to photos and documents. 1,125 items from the main fund have been preserved.

The incident happened on July 2nd. Employees of the Investigative Committee are working on the spot. It is established that the fire started during repair work on the roof. The workers used a gas burner.

The building burned out on an area of 200 square meters.

Recall that last year in Petrovsk, Yaroslavl region, on the night of June 27, a residential building burned to the ground, in which there was a museum of Ezh Petrovich with four thousand exhibits. Firefighters didn't show up for an hour. Local residents had to go on their own to the fire station and wake the sleeping firefighters.
