An-26 aircraft with 22 passengers did not get in touch in Kamchatka

The An-26 aircraft, which was implementing a passenger flight in the Kamchatka Territory, did not get in touch on time, the Russian Emergencies Ministry's Main Directorate for the region reported.

AircraftsThe plane belonging to the "Kamchatka Aviation Enterprise" followed the route Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky - Palana. According to preliminary data, there were 22 passengers on board, including one child, and six crew members.
Rescuers from the regional capital and the village of Ossora moved out in search of the aircraft. The search operation involves two helicopters and a special aircraft. Regional search and rescue base of Magadan.
An Interfax source suggested that the An-26 could have fallen into the Sea of Okhotsk when it landed at Polana over Shelekhov Bay.
