About 20 cars were involved in at least three simultaneous accidents on the M5 Ural highway Yekaterinburg-Chelyabinsk. This caused a traffic jam of three kilometers.

"The congestion was formed from 182 to 185 km of the route. Several traffic police squads are working at the scene of the accident. Data on the dead or wounded has not yet been reported", - said the head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Sverdlovsk Region Valery Gorelykh.

He clarified that several traffic police squads under the leadership of the head of the district traffic police department, Major Poly Mikhail Misharin, went to the scene of the accident.

Gorelykh suggested that one of the drivers could have exceeded the speed and slowed down sharply, but the car skidded because of the ice, as a result of which the cars began to crash into each other.

The situation on the highway turned into a collapse, concluded Gorelykh, suggesting that drivers should give up trips in the near future.

It's worth reminding that due to bad weather conditions in several municipalities of the region traffic is limited.

Earlier it was reported that one of the drivers died in an accident with five cars in the Krasnodar Territory.
