Khabarovsk governor Sergey Furgal was detained for the organizing a series of murders

This is the first case in the recent history of the Russian Federation when the head of the region is suspected of involvement in the killings.

In addition, the investigation is going to turn to court to establish a preventive measure for Furgal in the form of the detention. On top of this, four active members of an organized group were detained and arrested, who were also charged depending on their role in committing the crimes.

We are talking about crimes committed in 2004-2005 in the Khabarovsk Territory and the Amur Region. Operational support in the case is carried out by the FSB of Russia.

Now Sergey Furgal is delivered to Moscow.

He continues to hold the position of the head of the region. The branch of the LDPR party decided not to exclude Furgal from their lists by now.

His duties will be temporarily performed by the deputy chairman of the regional government Yuri Zolochevsky. In the case Furgal is removed from the post of the governor, the election of the head of the region will be held in September, 2021.

Let us recall that earlier on the suspicion of murder there was detained an entrepreneur, a former deputy of the Khabarovsk Regional Duma and a long-term business partner of Sergey Furgal - Nikolai Mistryukov.
