Chilean fishermen pulled out an almost five-meter fish, which is believed to appear on the eve of global natural disasters.

Fishermen from the Chilean city of Arica caught a 4.8-meter oarfish. The giant catch video has over 10 million views. One legend says that this fish is considered a harbinger of the end of a peaceful, calm life and the beginning of all sorts of cataclysms, but another legend promises misfortune and curses not for all of humanity, but only for the fisherman who caught the "king", according to the online publication LADBible.

Experts say that this kind of belief is due to the fact that the oar king lives at a very great depth and appears on the surface of the ocean due to the movement of tectonic plates, severe storms, currents or illness. Local authorities have already promised to investigate and find out why this fish rose from its usual depth.

There is already a joke on social networks that it is time to build an ark and wait for a tsunami with earthquakes. As for the value of the prey itself, it seems to be small despite the size. One of the bloggers writes about it:

"They are periodically caught by fishermen, and sometimes they suddenly swim in shallow water. It is almost impossible to eat them, as all deep-seated fish, their meat is a jelly-like mass, approximately like catfish, which spreads when cooked. And the herring kings live even deeper, they say (although this fish is extremely poorly studied) that they go down to 3.5 km. Not so long ago, a herring king of 9 meters was caught on the shallows, but they can be up to 11 or even more. But, in general, yes, after their capture or appearance, something goes wrong..."
