The criminal case against the former head of the Federal Tax Service for the Arkhangelsk Region and the NAO Sergey Rodionov (pictured) was submitted to the Oktyabrsky District Court of Arkhangelsk. The official is accused of accepting bribes on an especially large scale and abuse of office.

According to the regional prosecutor's office, the investigation insists on the version according to which Rodionov received large bribes totaling 11 million rubles in the period from 2013 to 2019.

Investigators believe that in 2013 Rodionov received 1.3 million rubles from one of the local entrepreneurs in exchange for the absence of tax control. Last year, the ex-head of the Arkhangelsk Federal Tax Service extorted a bribe from another businessman to reduce the amount of arrears, penalties and fines that were additionally charged based on the results of an on-site tax audit. The amount of the bribe, according to investigators, amounted to 9.7 million rubles. In the case of this company, we note that after the entrepreneur filed a complaint, Rodionov ordered the illegal freezing of the company's accounts, in connection with which the organization began to accumulate debts. Thus, the official forced the businessman to bribe him.

As part of the preliminary investigation, the taxman's property was arrested. The total cost of the arrested property was over 91 million rubles.
