The riot in the strict regime colony was suppressed in Ufa

According to investigators, on April 20, six inmates barricaded with iron beds a staircase in the building where they were, not letting the staff into the squad’s premises and urged other convicts to join them and begin actions to disorganize the colony’s work.

It is reported that at present, investigators establish all the circumstances of the incident and the causes of the conflict.

As the press service of the Republican Federal Penitentiary Service told Interfax , the incident occurred in a penal colony of strict regime, where citizens convicted repeatedly for serious and especially serious crimes are serving their sentences.

Recall that in early April there was a riot in the maximum security colony No. 15 of Angarsk. It began after one of the prisoners was recording a video message in which he complained about the mass beatings of prisoners by prison officials and promised to open his veins in protest. Upon learning of the video, the colony officer returned and beat the prisoner again. After the incident, another 17 convicts opened their veins, the rest set fire to production facilities: sawmills and pig farms, on which they themselves worked.

A fire swept over an area of over 30 thousand square meters. During his extinguishing, a skirmish again occurred between prisoners and correctional staff. To pacify the prisoners, up to 300 commandos were deployed. The fire was extinguished only the day after the riot suppression.
