Relatives of the convicted artist Mikhail Yefremov, who was charged with a fatal road accident and sentenced to eight years, believe that their lawyer may have been involved in the fraud. The family intends to write a police report against him.

Earlier, the lawyer Elman Pashayev, who represented the interests of Yefremov in court, was deprived of the status of a lawyer for the contradictory statements he made during the hearing of the artist's case. Now Yefremov can seek a review of his case. The artist's new lawyer has already filed a complaint against the verdict and asks to reduce the sentence to four years probation.

“The family is still in shock both from the verdict itself and from the actions of their lawyer. After lawyers give a legal assessment of Pashayev's actions in court and in public space, the family will finally decide whether to file a complaint with the police to check Pashayev's involvement in the fraudulent scheme”, - writes TASS with reference to one of the acquaintances of the convicted artist.

In addition, during the investigation, the family plans to find out how the recording of the conversation between the lawyer and the convict from a hidden surveillance camera on the eve of the verdict got into the media.

Yefremov was sentenced to eight years in prison, and also entitled to three years for the fact that he, being drunk and under the influence of drugs, arranged a fatal accident. The driver who collided with his car died from his injuries in the hospital. During the consideration of the case, the defense tried to prove that Yefremov was not guilty. The defense found witnesses who confirmed that Yefremov was not driving that day. The court did not believe their words, one of the witnesses was blind in one eye. Now they faces criminal liability for perjury.
