The Kremlin has denied media reports that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin may not return to his post even after recovering. On Thursday, the head of the Cabinet informed Vladimir Putin via video link about the infection with the coronavirus, saying that he is leaving for the self-isolation.

“This is a nonsense”, - Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti, commenting on the message that the head of government may not return to the post of prime minister.

After April 30, Mikhail Mishustin informed the Russian president that the coronavirus test had a positive result, he proposed the appointment of Acting Head of Government First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov. Vladimir Putin signed a decree on his appointment in connection with the prime minister’s illness, wishing Mishustin a speedy recovery.

At the same time, according to Mishustin, he will stay in touch with members of the Cabinet of Ministers, and the government will continue to work in his absence as usual.

Aleksey Venediktov, editor-in-chief of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, wrote in his telegram channel on Thursday, while Mikhail Mishustin’s temperature rose to 39 degrees.

Later, the Medusa publication, citing a source, wrote that Mikhail Mishustin might not return to the prime minister’s chair. The source drew the attention of the publication to the fact that the execution of the prime minister’s duties was entrusted to Andrei Belousov by a separate decree, and yet, according to article 8 of the federal constitutional law on the government, in the event of a temporary absence of the prime minister, one of his deputies fulfills his duties, and an additional decree the president is not needed for this.

As the press secretary of the head of government Boris Belyakov said on the eve, Mikhail Mishustin will be treated for coronavirus "in one of the medical institutions under the supervision of doctors". It is known that Mishustin already a few weeks ago limited communication, all meetings were held online, however, as Boris Belyakov said, all those who personally contacted him would be isolated and undergo additional testing.
