US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the Ukrainian leadership has a ready plan in the event of the death of President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Ukrainians have plans for "the succession of the government", which I'm not going to talk about in detail", - Fox News quoted the head of the State Department as saying.

Last week, according to the American media, citing official Kyiv, Zelensky had already escaped one assassination attempt allegedly carried out by saboteurs. According to the Constitution of Ukraine, if something happens to the head of state during his tenure, he must be replaced by the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. At the moment, this is Ruslan Stefanchuk.

Blinken's confession, Fox News notes, came after reports surfaced that U.S. and EU officials had begun discussing the line of presidential succession in the event of the assassination or capture of Volodymyr Zelensky.

US intelligence agencies have reportedly advised Ukrainian officials to stay in the same place for an extended period and actively move around, preferably outside the country's capital, The New York Times reported, citing an "informed person."

Washington would like the Ukrainians to determine a place for the leadership of the country outside Kyiv. Several proposals were made, for example, to move to the Carpathians. But experts cannot yet say whether there are reliable bomb shelters for members of the government there.
