Shinzo Abe dies after assassination attempt

According to RIA Novosti with reference to Japanese media, the politician died in the hospital of the Nara Medical University.

He was 67 years old.

The assassination attempt on Abe took place at 11:30 (5:30 Moscow time) during an election meeting in the city of Nara: the politician was shot in the back. Abe was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital by helicopter. On the way to the hospital, he was diagnosed with cardiac arrest and cessation of lung function.

According toTASS , at the hospital, doctors gave Abe a blood transfusion and fought for his life for several hours.

The current Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, called the assassination attempt on Abe monstrous, "barbaric and villainous", which is impossible to come to terms with.

Assassination attempt on Abe condemned in the Cabinet of Ministers of the country and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The suspect in the assassination attempt on the ex-premier was detained. It turned out to be a former soldier of the country's self-defense forces, a resident of the Japanese city of Nara, Yamagami Tetsuya. He explained his act by dissatisfaction with the policy of the ex-premier.
