Ilya Yashina was accused of transforming his official car into a social taxi

By law, the head of the municipality relies on an official car. It can ride as the head of the district, and his subordinates, fulfilling his instructions. In May, the prosecutor's office initiated a check on what the district spent budget money on. The auditors requested a report, but the only violation that they could find so far was the “illegal” transfer of the car to the needy residents of the district: people with limited mobility and pensioners.

“It turns out that if an official rents a car from the budget to carry his own ass, there are no questions. That is exactly what the representatives of the United Russia party do in other areas, and there are no complaints from the prosecutor's office to them. But if you try to help people, take them to the clinic for free, this is a violation of the law and the basis for criminal prosecution”, - Yashin said on his YouTube channel.

So far, this is only a check, which may end as a criminal case, or maybe not. Yashin himself believes that the true reason why the check was initiated is related to a hint for him not to run for the upcoming elections to the State Duma.

Yashin has been heading the Krasnoselsky district since 2017 after winning the municipal elections.
