Russia and the European Union agreed on the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region

According to Izvestia, citing its sources , the agreement fully satisfied the Russian side, but Lithuania refuses to agree to transit to Kaliningrad.

- This document says that it is impossible to restrict the movement of goods between the subjects of the Russian Federation. That is, all goods going to the region will be removed as an exception from the sanctions lists. We are talking about both railway and road transit, - points out the interlocutor of the publication.

He added that the coordination of the final document between the European Union and Lithuania takes several weeks.

Recall that Lithuanian railways notified the Kaliningrad railway that from midnight on June 18 they will stop transiting a large list of goods to and from the Kaliningrad region that are subject to European sanctions. The range of restrictions turned out to be very wide. It affected up to 50% of the entire range of transit cargo. These are building materials, cement, metals and other important goods. The Kremlin called the decision of Lithuania on the transport blockade of Kaliningrad illegal.

At the end of June, Senior National Security Adviser to the President of Lithuania Kestutis Budrys said that the "basic principles and fundamental guidelines" for the transportation of goods from the Russian Federation to the Kaliningrad region through the territory of the state were agreed with the European Commission. Also, a member of the European Parliament from Lithuania, Petras Auštrevičius, wrote on social networks on the issue of discussing cargo transportation from the Russian Federation to Kaliningrad that the case “is moving in favor of Russia.”

In turn, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, emphasized that he had sent to the Cabinet of Ministers and the Presidential Administration of Russia a draft of measures of a "different nature" in response to Lithuania's blockade of the transit of Kaliningrad.
