The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry and a number of accompanying persons received visas to participate in the UN General Assembly, as reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

“Today, visas were given to Lavrov and a number of accompanying persons,” the ministry commented on the situation (quote from RIA Novosti ).

The UN General Assembly will be held in person from September 20 to 26 and will be held in New York. At the same time, the Russian Foreign Minister was included in the US sanctions list, which implies a ban on entry. Lavrov will head the Russian delegation, some of whose members have already received visas.

“We expect the issuance of visas to the rest of the delegation members, as well as the prompt resolution of logistics issues, given the illegal sanctions restrictions by the United States, blocking the logistics of the arrival of Russian representatives to participate in the UN General Assembly,” the ministry added.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the United States is violating its obligations by refusing to issue visas to diplomats to participate in the UN General Assembly. The Kremlin spokesman noted that there were still a few days left before the start of the assembly.

“Let's still hope that the United States will fulfill its obligations,” Peskov suggested (quote from Kommersant ).
