US Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan was not going to leave the country, despite the recommendations of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Today it became known that he will still leave for the USA, but will return to Moscow "in the coming weeks".

"Ambassador Sullivan will return to the United States this week to visit his family and meet with members of the new administration, with whom he has not had the opportunity to consult since he agreed to continue in his post indefinitely", - informs Axios media citing a spokesman for the US State Department.

Recall that the Russian Foreign Ministry, in response to Washington's anti-Russian sanctions, expelled ten American diplomats and recommended Sullivan to go "home for consultations". In addition, an employee of the diplomatic mission was summoned to a meeting with aides to the President of Russia, Yuri Ushakov. There he was informed about the retaliatory measures by the Russian Federation.

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov was previously recalled for consultations in Moscow and is still continuing these consultations. At the same time, the US State Department was not going to recall John Sullivan, and the White House was not going to appoint another ambassador to Russia.

As it became known, the FBI Director Christopher Ray, the Director of the US National Intelligence Avril Haynes, the US Attorney General Merrick Garland, the Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons Michael Carvajal, the Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mallorcas, the Presidential Adviser for Domestic Policy, the former Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations Susan Rice. Also, the former Assistant to President Donald Trump for National Security and the Permanent Representative of the United States to the UN John Bolton and former CIA Director Robert Woolsey will be banned from entering Russia.
