Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin today, February 21, will hold an unscheduled meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

“This is a big Security Council”, Interfax quotes Peskov as saying.

A Kremlin spokesman noted that this was an “irregular meeting,” when asked by journalists about the nature of the event.

In addition, Peskov said that the president had several international telephone calls scheduled today. The topics of the meeting and telephone conversations were not announced by the Kremlin Bulletin.

During a conversation with reporters, the press secretary said that at the moment there are no specific plans to organize a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden, so it's too early to talk about it.

“I can say that a substantive understanding has been reached that it is necessary to continue the dialogue at the ministerial level. It’s too early to talk about any specific plans for organizing any summits”, - Peskov said (quote from RBC).

Earlier today, the US president expressed readiness to meet with his Russian counterpart, but on the condition that Russia does not “invade” Ukraine. This week, under similar conditions, a meeting will be held between the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the US Secretary of State.
