Russian President Vladimir Putin allowed the opportunity to run for the upcoming presidential election of 2024 if constitutional amendments were adopted.

The Russian president said this during an interview on the Russia-1 channel.

“I haven’t decided anything for myself yet. I don’t exclude the possibility of this. If it arises in the Constitution, I can run for office,” RIA Novosti quotes the head of state.

“Let's see. It will be seen there,” Putin added.

According to him, if “this does not happen,” then in a couple of years, officials at all levels of government will begin to look for a successor to him, instead of working effectively.

“We need to work, not seek successors,” the country's president called on officials.

Also, Vladimir Putin said that he was “absolutely convinced” of the correctness of the decision to adopt amendments to the country's Basic Law.

At KAZ hold nationwide voting on amendments to the Constitution, Putin signed on 1 June. The main voting day will be July 1, this day is declared a day off. However, Russians will be able to vote within six days prior to this date in areas organized outdoors, from June 25 to July 1. Initially, the vote was planned on April 22, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rospotrebnadzor has developed a number of measures that should protect against infection of voters. In particular, at the upcoming vote it will be possible not to pass the passport into the hands of members of election commissions, but simply to show the document.

In Moscow and the Nizhny Novgorod region, residents can vote in electronic format.
