Six activists detained in Moscow for single-person pickets against war with Ukraine

On Pushkin Square in Moscow, police officers detained activists opposing the war with Ukraine. Most of the detainees organized solo pickets.

According to OVD-Info*, some of the detainees organized solo pickets against the war with Ukraine, while others were simply on the square. The OVD-Info lawyer* went to help the activists.

According to human rights activists, the following people were detained on Pushkinskaya Square:

  • Alexey Belenkin;
  • Mikhail Leipunsky;
  • Grigory Sheyanov;
  • Tatyana Kozlova;
  • Olga Zelikina;
  • Daria Maslennikova.

According to Mediazona **, 8 activists were detained at the same place on February 20, three of whom received from 8 to 15 days of arrest.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a video address to the nation on February 21, announced the recognition of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. The parties signed agreements on cooperation, friendship and mutual assistance. Later, information appeared that Russian military men were seen on the territory of the Donbass republics, but this information is denied in official statements.
