Against the backdrop of a major international scandal that erupted around Belarus after the forced landing in Minsk of an Irish airliner and the arrest of opposition leader Roman Protasevich flying on it, Alexander Lukashenko, is preparing for an early meeting with his Russian counterpart Putin.

It is assumed that the meeting of the heads of the two countries will be held on May 28 in Sochi. This will be the third visit of Alexander Lukashenko to Russia since the beginning of this year, the Kommersant newspaper notes. The first visit took place on February 22, also in Sochi. On April 22, the presidents met in Moscow.

As in the first two cases, the negotiations will take place face to face. Experts associate the increased frequency of meetings with the fact that Russia and Belarus planned to complete work on all roadmaps for integration by autumn, which, as it turned out, are no longer called that way and are now being passed as "union programs".

The peculiarity of the recent meetings is that almost nothing is reported about their content and results, although the heads of state always emphasize the seriousness of the topics under consideration. At the same time, after the resonant forced landing of the airliner at the Minsk airport on May 23, a number of airlines are already refusing to fly over Belarus, and Lithuania has refused to accept any aircraft flying over its territory.
