A doctor at a Moscow hospital that was transformed to treat patients with pneumonia and coronavirus said that those who are overweight are more likely to be in the intensive care.

The age of the patients does not affect the risk of recovering in the intensive care unit - one of the youngest patients who were there was 20 years old, the doctor admitted.

“They brought in 26-, 30-, and 40-year-olds.” Of course, a lot of elderly patients under 80 years old. But here it’s difficult to talk about age statistics. Rather, I can note the fact that most patients are people weighing over a hundred kilograms or more, ”the resuscitator told in an interview with“ Evening Moscow ”.

According to her, 80% of patients even before they were confirmed with COVID-19 had concomitant diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, heart disease.

The doctor admitted that over the past month there have been cases when “hopeless” patients managed to cure.

- They literally had to be returned from the other world. But, unfortunately, there are not many such stories - I would like more, ”the doctor said.

Earlier, TV presenter Elena Malysheva stated that “coronavirus” patients with obesity are in the “global risk zone”.

- The virus is especially dangerous for elderly people and people with severe chronic diseases - obesity, diabetes, heart and lung failure, hypertension. This is a global risk zone, she said.
