A new academic year has begun in schools, colleges and universities in Russia. Students began face-to-face studies after a five-month break. The long hiatus was caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Since today, 17 million Russian schoolchildren have started their studies, including two million first-graders.

Not everyone who goes to school has got to the line and will get it today. The regions are advised to decide on their own how to organize the Day of Knowledge, and therefore most of the subjects of the Russian Federation decided to let those for whom it is the first and those for whom it is the last, that is, first-graders and graduates of the 11th grade, to the solemn ceremony. Parents of first graders can be present, but wearing a mask.

Restrictions await children in the schools themselves. At the entrance, they will be measured their temperature, detect ARVI symptoms, and children with signs of illness will not be allowed into classrooms.

Contacts of students from different classes will be limited. Each class will have a separate auditorium in which most of the classes will take place.

Parents will be allowed into the school building only in a mask, and there will be no parenting meetings - all meetings will be held only in an online format. As for the mask regime for children and teachers, the decision was also allowed by the regional authorities.

“We understand that ensuring sanitary safety will cause a certain inconvenience, but we are counting on a conscious, responsible attitude towards the forced, but vitally important preventive regimes”, - Interfax quotes the words of Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov.

In the meantime, teachers have already expressed their attitude to masks in class - most of them were skeptical about the continuous wearing of these protective equipment. A third of teachers said that the measure was pointless. Only 5% supported the initiative. The parents of the students also spoke out against the masks.

Let us recall that the preparation of children for the new school year cost the average family 34,858 rubles, which is 8,000 rubles more than last year. Compared to 2005, the price has increased six times.
