Vasily Akimkin, director of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, told reporters about this. According to him, the most widespread in the country and in the world today is the "delta" strain.

As noted by Interfax, for the first time strains of coronavirus "lambda" and "mu" were discovered in South America.

At the end of June this year, those infected with the lambda strain appeared in South America and the UK, and in January 2021, the mu strain was discovered in Colombia.

By August of this year, the number of cases of the mu strain in the world reached 3700 people. Most cases (1400) were detected in the United States, slightly less in Europe. In WHO, strains "lambda" and "mu" were included in the list of covid variants "of interest".

In connection with the fourth wave of coronavirus in Russia and in the world, additional sanitary restrictions have been introduced in a number of countries.

So, in the Russian Federation from October 30 to November 7, "non-working days" are announced. During the lockdown, catering and entertainment establishments are prohibited in many regions, night hours are canceled in many 24-hour establishments, and non-food stores and alcohol markets are closed in a number of regions. Tourists massively refuse to travel around the country and fly abroad, where there are no such strict restrictions.

The entrance to the premises with a mass stay of people is possible upon presentation of the QR-code. Only those who have recently been ill with covid and have antibodies, or those who have been vaccinated, can get it.
