The size of maternity capital in Russia in 2022 for the first child will increase by 19.4 thousand rubles and will reach 503 thousand rubles.

As the head of the Ministry of Labor Anton Kotyakov told reporters, the draft budget of the Pension Fund for next year provides for the indexation of maternity capital.

"The size in 2022 will be 503,237 rubles for the first child and 665,009 rubles for the second", - RIA Novosti quoted the minister as saying.

For families who have already received payments for the birth of their first child, the additional payment for the birth of the second will be 161,772 rubles.

This year, the size of the mother capital for the first child is 483,800 rubles, for the birth of the second - for 639,400 rubles. The Pension Fund is responsible for the distribution of budgetary funds under this item.

You can spend maternity capital funds on a strictly defined list of needs: for improving housing conditions (for buying an apartment, for a down payment or early repayment of a mortgage), for education (from kindergarten to university, including expenses for student dormitories), for the funded part of the pension , for the rehabilitation and treatment of a disabled child, as well as for receiving monthly payments if the family lives below the poverty line.

According to the law, it is impossible to exchange a certificate for cash, for this a criminal punishment is provided with imprisonment up to 10 years.

According to statistics, 60% of families spend their maternity capital on housing.

On the eve it became known that in annual terms inflation in Russia amounted to 6.79%, which is the highest figure since August 2016, when prices increased by 6.9%. Thus, from the amount of 483,800, inflationary compensation should have amounted to 32,850.02 rubles - that is, almost twice what the government is proposing. This means that the purchasing power of materkapital, especially in the context of soaring real estate prices, will decline sharply in 2022.
