Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the Ministry of Health to prepare changes to the basic program of compulsory health insurance (СHI), providing for the threat of the spread of diseases caused by coronavirus infection.

The project must be submitted before June 4.

- The Russian Ministry of Health to submit a draft decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, providing for a change in the specifics of the implementation of the basic program of compulsory medical insurance in the face of a threat of the spread of diseases caused by a new coronavirus infection in order to resume the planned work of medical organizations, the decisions said at the meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council under the Government of the Russian Federation on the fight against coronavirus published on the website of the Cabinet.

Also, the Ministry of Health, together with the heads of regions, will have to ensure the preservation of the reserve of a specialized bed fund, which was created to treat patients with coronavirus, in case of a possible resumption of an increase in the incidence of COVID-19 until June 5.

By the same time, it was entrusted to work out the question of the need for an extra bed fund in the event of a second pandemic wave.

Heads of entities will today need to assess the needs of health workers for personal protective equipment and the available reserves of masks, plague suits, etc.

“Upon receipt of information on the lack of personal protective equipment in medical institutions, ensure the mandatory review of each such case and the immediate adoption of appropriate measures to correct the situation”, - the document says.

Until June 5, the Ministry of Health together with the Ministry of Industry and Trade will analyze the submitted applications and will have to ensure the supply of personal protective equipment to the medical organization.

Note that in Moscow, according to plans announced on May 27, in the near future about five thousand beds in hospitals that were reprofiled for the treatment of coronavirus should return to full-time work. In this case, patients will be placed in separate wards and immediately take an analysis for coronavirus.

Let us recall that in April the Ministry of Health recommended canceling scheduled medical examinations in connection with a large number of patients with COVID-19. In addition, the medical examination was suspended.

To date, 423,741 cases of coronavirus infection have been identified in Russia. As of June 2, 8,863 new cases were recorded. Since the start of the epidemic, 5,037 patients have died in the country. 186 985 people recovered and were discharged from medical institutions.
