The editor-in-chief of the radio station, Alexey Venediktov, said that the Moscow Property Department had terminated the lease agreement for the premises. He also spoke about the internet shutdown by the ISP.

“Last night, a notification came from the Moscow Property Department that they are terminating the contract (lease), they have the right to unilaterally. At the same time, the providers yesterday received a notification from the holding company (Gazprom-Media) that the contract is being terminated. Today, until 16:00, we will turn off the wired Internet”, - Venediktov said today in an interview with Interfax.

Earlier today, it was reported that Ekho Moskvy is shutting down the site and deleting social media accounts.

“So we can't even broadcast on the Internet. That is, even these two or three months, even on the Internet, we are not allowed to broadcast, although the Prosecutor General's Office generally only mentioned radio in the submission. So we close corporate accounts, delete them. That is, we do not exist. Just like the radio, they turned it off and that's it”, - said Venediktov.

On March 1, Roskomnadzor blocked the resources of Ekho Moskvy and Dozhd*. The radio station was taken off the air. The reason for this was the systematic publication of false information about the special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. On March 3, the board of directors decided to liquidate the radio station and the Ekho Moskvy website.

Earlier today, it also became known about the blocking by Roskomnadzor of a number of foreign media, which were also accused of systematically publishing unreliable information about the conduct of a special operation of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
